Canva already shows a faint pink line when an element lines up with another one nearby — useful, but temporary and easy to miss on a busy design.
For anything that needs to line up consistently across several pages or slides, a saved guide line is the more reliable option.
Here's the trick:
Smart guides snap your elements into place — and custom ones can be pinned exactly where you need them.
How to use it
- Open the View menu in the top toolbar.
- Turn on "Show rulers and guides."
- Drag a line down from the top ruler, or across from the side ruler, to place a guide anywhere on the canvas.
- Drag elements near the guide — they'll snap into place against it automatically.
Where it helps most
Keeping several elements — logos, borders, columns of text — perfectly aligned across a multi-page or multi-slide design.
One thing to watch for
Guides can reset if you significantly resize the canvas, for example with Magic Switch, so add them after your final size is already set.
