Five Nights at Freddy's made the jump to film in 2023, nearly a decade after the first game, and the adaptation became a genuine box office story in its own right.
Five Nights at Freddy's (2023)
Released October 25–27, 2023, directed by Emma Tammi and produced by Scott Cawthon alongside Jason Blum's Blumhouse. It follows Mike Schmidt, a struggling security guard who takes a night shift at the long-closed Freddy Fazbear's Pizza and gradually uncovers what really happened there — including the five children whose spirits possess the animatronics: Freddy Fazbear, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy and a golden animatronic tied to the game series' central mystery. It released simultaneously in theaters and on streaming, and became one of the highest-grossing horror video game adaptations ever made.
Five Nights at Freddy's 2 (2025)
Released in 2025, with Emma Tammi and Scott Cawthon both returning behind the camera and most of the main cast reprising their roles. It continues directly from the first film's story.
Five Nights at Freddy's 3
A third film is already in development, with the screenplay currently being written by Gary Dauberman (known for horror adaptations including the modern It films). No release date has been announced yet.
