Marvel's Wolverine is packed with references, and most of them aren't marked on any map. This guide is organized by area in roughly the order you reach them, with what to look at in each place.

Spoiler warning:

This page names missions, locations and story moments. The last section covers late-game and ending spoilers and is clearly labeled. Compiled from several published guides; a few spots are described by area rather than exact coordinates, and patches can move things.

Early game: the facilities and Canada

  • Team X locker room. Where: the Team X locker room, walking through the room. What to do: Examine the cubbies. They belonged to past teammates, including Maverick, Eye Boy and Rain Boy; Logan comments on Eye Boy's headgear.
  • Iceman's escape. Where: the nuke-test-style fake town you cross while searching for Nathaniel Essex. What to do: Look for the fake house full of blasted ice. A mutant restraint collar sits in the ice, implying Bobby Drake broke free.
  • The Daily Bugle. Where: Leech's hideout, during the mission The One That Got Away in Canada. What to do: Find the copy of the Daily Bugle — a link to Insomniac's Spider-Man games, which share this universe.
  • Beast's article. Where: one of the labs, among the documents. What to do: Read the article on the X-Gene. Its author is Hank McCoy, the founding X-Man Beast.
  • A pre-Cerebro machine. Where: Trask's labs. What to do: Look at the mutant detection machine. Its design deliberately recalls Professor Xavier's Cerebro.
  • Stryker's book. Where: the Trask station. What to do: Find the book My War, written by William Stryker, the anti-mutant preacher from God Loves, Man Kills.
  • Essex's blood samples. Where: Essex's lair. What to do: Check the samples. Names include Riptide, Harpoon (Kodiak Noatak) and Mercury, plus a long list of fallen mutants such as Wraith, Blockbuster, Prism and Morph.
  • Trask's offhand mentions. Where: dialogue in Trask's facility. What to do: Listen for "dangerous mutants" he lists in passing — a teen who combusted, a girl whose voice can liquefy a brain, people who can kill with a thought. Each could be a known character.

Madripoor

  • Dazzler's poster. Where: around Madripoor's streets. What to do: Spot the poster for Alison Blaire, Dazzler; Logan says he prefers her old stuff.
  • Gambit's IOU. Where: Walter's music room, during the Madripoor downtime after Trask's death. What to do: Find the playing card with an I.O.U. signed by Remy LeBeau, Gambit.
  • The Viper Bar. Where: near the bar in Madripoor. What to do: Look at the sign and listen to Logan's line about the owner spitting in your drink — a nod to Viper.
  • Donald Pierce's email. Where: in Madripoor. What to do: Read the email from Donald Pierce, the cyborg founder of the Reavers.
  • "Puck was here". Where: graffiti in Madripoor. What to do: Read Logan's comment about the little fighter — a nod to Alpha Flight's Puck.
  • Angel's reserved seat. Where: the Hightown casino. What to do: Look at the seat reserved for Warren Worthington III, one of the five original X-Men.
  • A Hellfire Club crime lord. Where: the Hightown casino's VIP penthouse. What to do: Note the man thrown out: Liu-wo Han, a Hong Kong crime lord tied to the Hellfire Club.
  • Corrigan's plane. Where: a line of Logan's dialogue. What to do: Listen to him note his plane was never found — echoing the comics, where Patch wrecked Archie Corrigan's planes.

Japan

  • Hellfire Club door. Where: a door in Japan bearing a familiar symbol. What to do: Examine it. Logan calls the club "stuck-up".
  • Sable International. Where: a company sign in Japan. What to do: Look at it — the PMC from Spider-Man's DLC. Logan says they once tried to poach him from Team X.
  • Alchemax. Where: another company sign in Japan. What to do: Spot the sign for the corporation from the 2099 comics, where Miguel O'Hara worked.
  • Roxxon. Where: a billboard in Japan. What to do: Read it and listen for Logan wondering whether Simon Krieger is still in jail — which places the game after Miles Morales.
  • Muramasa's grave. Where: while wandering Japan. What to do: Find the grave of the weaponsmith who forged the sword that can kill Logan. It's also relevant to the plot.

Story moments (spoilers)

Everything below spoils story events.

  • Fastball Special. Where: the fight against the Sentinel prototype. What to do: Watch Sabertooth throw Logan in the classic Colossus tag-team move.
  • Jean's throwback dress. Where: the Hand's gala. What to do: Notice her green dress and yellow mask, a look from her original Marvel Girl days.
  • Daredevil and Elektra. Where: the Hand storyline. What to do: Listen for Shiro mentioning a lawyer in Hell's Kitchen, and look for a sai on display in the Hand headquarters' shrine.
  • Savage Land and a comet egg. Where: Logan's Nightmare Door memories. What to do: Listen to the memories — one mentions the Savage Land, another a comet that turned out to be an egg (Phoenix or Brood, depending on your theory).
  • An "X" grave. Where: after Logan appears to die against the giant Sentinel. What to do: Look at the wooden "X" marking his grave, an echo of Logan's ending.
  • Logan as a conduit. Where: destroying the Sentinel teleporters. What to do: Watch him channel electricity between components, a visual nod to Deadpool & Wolverine.
  • Apocalypse. Where: the climax. What to do: Listen as Apocalypse calls Logan "Death" — his old Horseman role, whose costume resembles the game's Shinigami look.
  • Lila Cheney. Where: the credits. What to do: Spot the poster for the mutant rock star, also seen on Dazzler's earlier poster.

Costumes

  • Patch. Where: an outfit worn in Madripoor. What to do: The white tuxedo and eye patch reference his Patch alter ego.
  • Hellverine. Where: an unlockable costume. What to do: A Ghost Rider crossover-inspired look.
  • Other suits nod to Weapon X, Old Man Logan, Ultimate Wolverine, Classic Brown, New Leather, Midnight, the 2000s movies' tank top, and a Marvel Tokon crossover. We couldn't confirm how each one is unlocked.
