Keeping a logo, page number or title in exactly the same spot across dozens of slides is hard to do by eye, slide after slide.
PowerPoint's guides solve this by placing a reference line once that then appears, in the same spot, on every slide.
Here's the trick:
Turn on Guides from the View tab to place a ruler line once and reuse it for consistent alignment throughout.
How to use it
- Go to the View tab and check "Guides," or press Alt+F9.
- Click and drag a guide line out from the ruler to where you want it.
- Hold Ctrl while dragging to add an additional guide instead of moving the existing one.
- The same guide positions now show on every slide in the deck, ready to align objects against.

One thing to watch for
Guides are visual only and never appear when printed or exported. They exist purely to help you place things consistently while editing.
