A row of icons that looks almost-but-not-quite aligned is one of the fastest ways to make a slide look unfinished.
PowerPoint's alignment tools fix that in two clicks, without any manual nudging.
Here's the trick:
Arrange > Align and Distribute snaps every selected shape into a perfectly even row or column.
How to use it
- Select two or more objects — click the first, then Shift+click the rest.
- Go to Arrange > Align.
- Choose "Align Center" or "Align Middle" to line them up.
- Choose "Distribute Horizontally" or "Distribute Vertically" to space them evenly.
Where it helps most
Rows of icons, evenly spaced photo grids, or any layout that currently looks close to aligned but not quite there.
One thing to watch for
Align and Distribute act on the current selection only. Grouping unrelated objects together beforehand will throw off the spacing calculation.
