Cross-referencing another page, tagging a person, or noting a date in Notion doesn't need a separate linking step — it happens inline, as you type.

Here's the trick:

Typing @ opens a search you can use to instantly mention a page, a person, or a specific date, dropping in a live, clickable reference.

How to use it

  1. Type @ anywhere in a block.
  2. Start typing a page title, someone's name, or a date like "next Friday."
  3. Pick the match from the list that appears.
  4. It becomes a small inline mention — clicking a page mention jumps straight to that page.

Where it helps most

Meeting notes that reference other project pages, notes that need to tag a specific teammate, or any note where "remind me about this on the 12th" should actually be a real date, not just text.

One thing to watch for

A page you mention this way automatically shows a "backlink" on the mentioned page itself — useful for finding everywhere a page is referenced, but worth knowing it happens automatically.
