Fixing an inconsistent font or repositioning a logo slide by slide, across a deck of forty slides, is exactly the kind of task that eats an entire afternoon.
The Slide Master exists specifically to make that single edit once, and have it apply everywhere at once.
Here's the trick:
Change one master layout and every slide built from it updates at once.
How to use it
- Go to View > Slide Master.
- Click the larger master slide at the top of the list to affect everything, or a specific layout underneath it to change just that one.
- Adjust a font, color, logo position, or placeholder size.
- Click "Close Master View" — every existing and future slide using that layout updates automatically.
Where it helps most
Fixing an inconsistent font, or repositioning a logo, across dozens of slides in one edit instead of adjusting each slide individually.
One thing to watch for
Text boxes added manually, outside the placeholder system, won't follow Slide Master changes — only content placed in the actual layout placeholders will update.
