World of Warcraft: Forever launches November 4, 2026, announced at BlizzCon 2026 as what Blizzard has informally described as "WoW Vanilla Plus" — a new, permanent way to play the game locked at level 60.

What we know so far

Rather than a limited-time classic server or a one-off anniversary event, Forever is being built as a standing mode: character progression stops at level 60, keeping the game anchored to the original World of Warcraft's pacing and power scale rather than the modern expansion treadmill.

It arrives alongside a wider slate of WoW news from BlizzCon, including a new content update named Midnight Eclipse for the modern, current-expansion version of the game — the two are separate tracks, not a replacement of one by the other.

Why it matters

Classic WoW servers have consistently drawn a dedicated audience wanting the original pace and difficulty back. Making that permanent, rather than a nostalgia event, is a bigger structural commitment than past classic re-releases.
